On Saturday, July 6th, we will celebrate our union in Massangis, a small village in Burgundy, where we settled last summer…
Now that you have confirmed your presence, here are some details for the weekend:
We are organizing a cocktail dinner starting at 6 PM on Friday, July 5th, for those of you who will have arrived in the region, tired from the journey and probably a bit hungry!
It will take place 3 kilometers from our village, at the Grotte de Champ Retard, RD 11, 89440 Coutarnoux. Get your GPS ready!
Some people have asked what to bring. So first of all, remember to pack a sweater or a coat because it can get quite chilly at nightfall.
And if you wish, but with no obligation of course, you can bring a specialty from your region to share, whether solid and/or liquid!
Aïna Fahy will do us the honor of giving a mini-concert just for us at 8:30 PM!
During the day on Saturday, we suggest a few interesting places to visit depending on your interests and mood:
- Adventure course for thrill-seekers on rocks for all ages in Grotte du Champ Retard as he day before
- Chablis for its cellars and wine, and can go horse-riding
- Vézelay for its pilgrimage site and tourist village listed among the most beautiful villages in France, just like
- Noyers-sur-Serein for its medieval village, and go for a carriage ride
- Montréal, also a listed village and a bit less touristy,
- Epoisses with its beautiful castle and world-famous cheeses,
- Avallon, and its covered market
- Tonnerre,
- and Semur-en-Auxois, three very old historic towns.
- Local market in Annoux
We are just a short distance (20 minutes by car) from the gates of the Morvan Regional Park, with its forests and lakes:
and also its abbey, La Pierre Qui Vire, where you can enjoy beautiful hikes all around.
And if you like fishing, there are three rivers around us within a few kilometers:
But we expect you on that same Saturday, July 6th, at 5 PM, to officially get married at the Massangis town hall!
On the same street, near the church and town hall, opposite number 52 Grande Rue, Christine opens her garden so you can park your vehicle there. It is secure and we will be many. So, out of respect for the residents, please try to park there as much as possible.
Xavier, the mayor, is lending us his field at the same place for parking throughout the weekend. You will find a sign so you don’t park in the wrong garden!
Afterwards, we will welcome everyone to our home for the evening.
Our address is VILLA ODETTE, 62 Grande Rue, 89440 Massangis. We cross our fingers for good weather, but it’s impossible to predict, so remember to bring your sweaters just in case!
On Sunday, for those who are not in a hurry, we will wait for you again at the house starting at 10:30 AM to share breakfast and then a meal similar to the day before!
